Of the many NGOs based in Málaga, CiENViDAS is the only one that truly organizes international volunteer trips supporting local projects in the countries where it works—India, Nepal and Thailand, as well as Bolivia and Peru in Latin America—with a particular focus on children in the greatest need. The CiENViDAS Foundation supported me throughout the entire process—from my initial questions about buying the ticket, arranging the visa, luggage and vaccinations, through to my stay in Jaipur, India, including the emotional and logistical support we had to manage. I would live the experience a thousand times over, and I do not think it will be my last. I would especially like to mention the team there. Hasmik, the coordinator, supported me and always took my situation and availability into account. A special mention also goes to Nutam, my translator and unwavering support throughout my stay. Without her, nothing would have been the same; she was my eyes, my arms, my ears and my sense of safety in India. I am immensely grateful. Namaste :)

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of this review is Google.  What a huge disappointment it was to choose this foundation for a volunteer trip to Kolkata. They showed no interest whatsoever in my stay, the program I was taking part in, or how I was doing. The important thing was collecting their commission. They did not even bother to find out whether I returned safely after 18 days or send me the feedback questionnaire they send to other volunteers. I absolutely do not recommend travelling with them. I was told I could attend Mother Teresa’s project in the mornings and an orphanage in the afternoons, but there were no children at the orphanage; a group of children who pay for private lessons attends only one afternoon a week. The foundation took no responsibility even though that orphanage had reportedly had no children for years. The conditions of the local partner’s house and food, for which €30 per day is charged, were deplorable. We did not even have water and had to buy everything, and the house was terribly unhygienic and cold. Coincidentally, when I decided to find other accommodation at my own expense, the owner arranged a cleaning after months in which nothing had been cleaned. The organization did not even bother to help or show concern, using the excuse that hygiene standards are not the same as in Spain. The experience is unforgettable, but this foundation’s lack of interest is significant. Its contribution is nonexistent; the objective appears to be fundraising, and it is unclear for what purpose. From what I have read, Kolkata is not an exception and the same happens in Jaipur.

This NGO’s project teaching English and mathematics to children aged 4 to 7 in India is truly exceptional. I have witnessed how the children not only learn the fundamentals of these subjects and number concepts, but do so with infectious joy and enthusiasm. The teachers show incredible patience, dedication and creativity, adapting lessons to make them fun and interactive. This program is laying a strong educational foundation that will undoubtedly open countless doors for these children in the future.
