Teaching in Public Schools – Cusco, Peru
COME TO PERU AS A VOLUNTEER AND SHARE WITH VULNERABLE CHILDREN WHO CAN ACHIEVE WHATEVER THEY SET THEIR MINDS TO WITH THE EMPOWERMENT THEY DESERVE.
The project focuses on children aged 3 to 12 at two schools: Patrón San Sebastián and Bolivariano; most of these children come from poor and largely dysfunctional families.
Activities
Volunteering is a deeply rewarding experience that offers opportunities to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the less fortunate. Volunteers can take part in a variety of tasks, tailored to their skills, interests, and the residents’ needs. Some roles and activities include:
Math classes, artistic activities, completing attention worksheets, etc.
Fine motor skills activities.
English classes: they have a workbook to use in class, so you just follow the instructions, working with English songs and poems.
Educational and/or concentration games.
On Fridays there are group workshops where the volunteer runs a one-hour group activity/workshop (always with the coordinator’s support).
And additionally:
Cleaning the classroom afterward and trying to get all the students to take part.
Help with the NGO’s social media, creating posts about the activities carried out, and more.
Help create and run fundraising activities.
A volunteer’s day to day
The volunteers you’ll live with come from all over the world and are very different people. But sharing such a profound experience gives the volunteer house a warm atmosphere of companionship and friendship that you feel the moment you land. It’s something close, something special.
Your day will start with a wonderful breakfast served with the greatest care and warmth by your accommodation hosts. Then you can head to the city center to discover its culture and iconic, historic sites. At midday you’ll return to your hostel for lunch and a rest, and at 2:30 pm transport will pick you up to take you to your volunteer project, where from 3:00 to 6:00 pm you’ll teach wonderful children who will be waiting for you with open arms and open hearts.

Each volunteer will be in direct contact with the project coordinator to ensure you have the information you need, so your stay is as pleasant as possible and you experience a
cultural exchange with the other volunteers (local and international).
