The Fear and the Magic of India: A Volunteer’s Story

Traveling to unknown places always stirs up mixed emotions, even more so when it’s a volunteering program at an orphanage. For Beatriz Moncayo, a 27-year-old from Málaga, the chance to travel to Jaipur, India, to help at an orphanage was an experience filled with unforgettable emotions and lessons.

“I came with a lot of fear, I won’t deny it,” Beatriz confesses, recalling how she felt before the trip. But once she set foot on Indian soil, that fear melted away before the warm welcome she received. “It’s incredible how much love they give you without barely knowing you,” she says, highlighting the hospitality and generosity of the people she met in Jaipur.
The experience at the orphanage and living alongside the girls was transformative for Beatriz. “Every day I love India more,” she says enthusiastically. The close contact with the culture, the traditions and the joy of the people immersed her in a new, enriching world. India left an indelible mark on her heart.

Beatriz doesn’t miss the chance to express her gratitude to those who made this trip possible. “Thank you for giving me this opportunity,” she says sincerely. She also acknowledges the team that makes the orphanage volunteering program possible, emphasizing the importance of their work and how they’ve managed to make volunteers feel part of a big family.
