Casa de la Amistad Day Center – Cochabamba, Bolivia

Bolivia Childcare Viaje Organizado

SHARE AND RECEIVE LOVE FROM CHILDREN AGED 3 TO 16 BY HELPING AND TEACHING THEM.

Activities

  • Volunteering at the Casa de la Amistad Day Center is one of those heart-filling experiences, because we work with preschool, primary, and secondary school children who have one parent in prison and the other working in the street in search of their daily livelihood to survive. Helping them, educating them, showing them there’s a beautiful world out there is a rewarding task — and they thank you with a smile.
  • The project provides comprehensive care in education, health, food, and psychological and spiritual support to children, teens, and parents connected to incarceration at the San Sebastián (men’s and women’s), San Antonio, and El Abra prisons in Cochabamba. Many children have come through the project who are now professionals with solid families. The project has run since 1994 at the initiative of missionary Dennis Shermann, who began by caring for 14 children from the San Sebastián women’s prison; today the project serves 153 children and teens.

A volunteer’s day to day

The volunteers sharing the experience with you come from all over the world and are very different people. But sharing such a profound experience gives the volunteer hostel a warm atmosphere of companionship and friendship that you feel the moment you land. It’s something close, something special. So, among friends, your day starts with breakfast before heading to your project, where you’ll be welcomed with open arms, since volunteers are highly valued and loved in Bolivia.
When you finish, you’ll return to the volunteer house, where you’ll have lunch, and in the afternoons you’ll have free time to explore the city or do cultural immersion activities.
And on weekends… free to rest, or to travel!

This is the trip we offer you… are you really going to put it off?
