Medicine & Health – Jaipur, India

India Medicine & Health Viaje Organizado

COME TO INDIA AS A VOLUNTEER OR INTERN AND
LEARN TO HEAL AND CARE FOR THOSE WHO NEED IT MOST

The project takes place in local nursing health centers, hospitals, and dispensaries. They were set up to provide health services to the local public for free or at a very low cost. There are some counseling and awareness activities, such as polio awareness, women’s hygiene, HIV/AIDS awareness, and tobacco awareness.

Volunteers also set up health check-up camps in marginalized neighborhoods and community schools to carry out eye, ear, and other screenings. There’s also a blood donation camp at the project. You’ll also help the local staff maintain medical records.

Volunteers are highly valued and warmly welcomed in India, on top of the life lessons that come with volunteering with children in a country like India.

Activities

  • You’ll support the staff in the health center’s operations, such as assisting patients with their daily needs.
  • You’ll teach local residents about healthcare.
  • You’ll teach children about daily hygiene, brushing teeth, bathing, physical exercise, etc.
  • And teach parents about the benefits of a nutritious diet and balanced eating habits.
  • Seminar on women’s hygiene and care.
  • You’ll organize or help out with health camps in deprived areas or slums.

A volunteer’s day to day

The volunteers sharing the experience with you come from all over the world and from many different backgrounds. Sharing such a meaningful experience creates a warm atmosphere of companionship and friendship at the volunteer house from the moment you arrive. It’s something close, something special.

Your day starts with breakfast at the volunteer house before you head to the project, where you will receive a warm welcome. International volunteers are highly valued and respected in India. You will usually work from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 or 1:00 p.m. After lunch and some free time, you may return to the project. It is deeply rewarding work, and many volunteers feel they receive as much from the experience as they give.

In the afternoon, back at the volunteer house, you will have free time to explore the city or take part in the program’s cultural immersion activities.
Weekends are free for you to rest or travel!

Accommodation and meals

The Volunteer House in Jaipur is ideally located for project participants: a residential area near the center, with shops, restaurants, a hospital, transportation, etc. It has rooms for 1 to 4 people with a cooler and bathroom, shared lounges and dining room, satellite TV, free Wi-Fi, a washing machine with drying rack, fridges, a bookcase, lockers, and more.

And always under the supervision and care of the coordinator. Everything so you feel at home.

As for the food, Indian dishes are prepared that are, yes, a little spicy, but you’re sure to love them. Rice, legumes, wheat chapati, vegetables…. 3 meals a day are included.

And if you want a more intense cultural immersion experience, you can also stay with a host family. Very hospitable, they’re a safe, comfortable, and culturally enriching option for a volunteer in India. Our network of carefully selected, experienced families are upper-middle class, with children and/or relatives in their care, and their homes are located near basic services such as markets, public transportation, and shopping centers.
