Education, Protection and Summer: Why July Matters in Cooperation

When we think of summer, we usually associate it with holidays, rest or travel. However, for thousands of children around the world, July is a month in which access to education, companionship and safe spaces remains essential.

At Fundación CiENViDAS we believe that cooperation knows no seasons. Social projects continue throughout the year because the needs of communities do too. Every volunteer, sponsor and collaborator helps children keep having opportunities to learn, develop and grow in a protective environment.

In addition, July invites us to reflect on the importance of child protection. On 30 July we commemorate the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, a date that reminds us of the need to strengthen education, support networks and safe spaces as tools to reduce the vulnerability of children and adolescents.

July, volunteering and project continuity

One of the questions we receive most during these dates is whether our projects remain active during the summer. The answer is yes.

At Fundación CiENViDAS we continue welcoming volunteers throughout the month of July in different destinations such as India, Bolivia and Peru, where they mainly collaborate on projects related to children, education, school support and companionship.

Although school calendars may vary from country to country, our partner organisations adapt their activities so that children continue taking part in educational workshops, recreational activities, academic reinforcement and personal development spaces.

Our projects remain open during July because social work requires continuity. The presence of volunteers helps reinforce activities that complement the work of local teams, always from a responsible collaboration that respects the needs of each community.

Education and child protection: a direct relationship

Education and child protection are deeply connected.

When a boy or a girl has access to quality education, they not only acquire academic knowledge. They also develop skills to make decisions, strengthen their self-esteem, know their rights and build a life project with greater opportunities.

In the same way, attending a safe educational environment means having trusted adults, peers and support networks that help detect situations of vulnerability and foster healthy development.

That is why, in our educational projects, we do not only talk about teaching school subjects. We also work to create spaces where children can feel heard, accompanied and protected.

On such a significant date as the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, it is important to remember that strengthening education and community networks is one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk factors that can affect children and adolescents in vulnerable contexts.

The role of companionship in summer

During the summer, many children continue to need positive role models to accompany them in their day-to-day lives.

The companionship provided by volunteers does not only consist of teaching classes or helping with specific activities. It also involves sharing quality time, building trust, motivating learning and taking part in activities that foster emotional and social development.

Every conversation, every game and every educational activity helps create enriching experiences that complement the work carried out by local organisations throughout the year.

This companionship is always carried out following the guidelines of the project teams, respecting the local culture and prioritising the well-being of children.

How impact is sustained beyond a single trip

A volunteering trip can be a very transformative experience, but real impact is built through continuity.

Volunteers working with a local organisation on an educational project

Social projects generate change when there is constant, coordinated and sustainable work over time. That is why the role of local organisations, educators, families, collaborators and volunteers is part of the same effort.

At Fundación CiENViDAS we are committed to projects that remain active throughout the year and that evolve alongside the communities where we work. Each volunteer contributes an important piece, but real change comes from the sum of many people committed to the same goal.

Sponsorship and stable support

In addition to international volunteering, sponsorship is a form of collaboration that provides long-term stability.

Child sponsorship: access to education and food with Fundación CiENViDAS

Thanks to the ongoing support of sponsors, many girls can access educational resources, school materials, food, healthcare and activities that foster their comprehensive development.

This constant commitment allows projects to keep running beyond a specific season and ensures that local organisations can plan their actions with greater security.

When a community has stable resources, it is possible to offer more opportunities to children and strengthen the factors that contribute to their protection and well-being.

How to get involved responsibly

International cooperation has a greater impact when it is based on respect, listening and long-term commitment. If you want to be part of the change, at Fundación CiENViDAS you will find different ways to collaborate responsibly and make a real impact on the lives of vulnerable children.

You can do so through our international volunteering program, taking part in education, school support and companionship projects in destinations such as India, Nepal, Thailand, Bolivia and Peru, always alongside local organisations that know the needs of each community and guarantee the continuity of the projects.

If you cannot travel, you can also contribute through sponsorship, a form of stable support that helps a girl gain access to education, food, healthcare and other basic needs. In addition, you can make a one-off or recurring donation, becoming part of the growth of projects that remain active throughout the year.

Another way to collaborate is by helping us give visibility to our work. Sharing our projects, talking about the importance of education and child protection, or recommending Fundación CiENViDAS to family and friends also helps more people join this cause.

We believe that international cooperation transforms lives when it is built on respect, commitment and joint work with local communities. Every person who decides to collaborate with Fundación CiENViDAS becomes part of a change that goes far beyond a single trip: it helps create opportunities that last over time.
